Select the pump according to the complete system
A lubrication pump should not be selected by pressure or reservoir capacity alone. First determine whether the pump will operate with a single-line lubrication system, a progressive lubrication system or direct supply to lubrication points, and then compare the lubricant type, number of supply points, required flow rate and control method.
Some electric pumps, such as SKF KFG, can be configured for a MonoFlex single-line system or a ProFlex progressive system. Jianhe’s DBS series is designed primarily for progressive-divider systems and can use multiple pump elements for direct supply or distribution through a divider network.
Lubricant, pump elements and flow rate
Pumping capability depends on grease consistency or oil viscosity, ambient temperature and the pump-element design. Two pumps with the same rated pressure may not deliver the same flow rate or be suitable for the same grease.
When a system has multiple branches, check the number of pump elements, the flow from each element and how the outlets are combined. Increasing the number of outlets does not mean that every point will receive enough grease if total system demand exceeds the pump’s capacity.
Power supply, control and monitoring
Depending on the series, a pump may use direct current for mobile machines or alternating current for stationary equipment. Some versions have an integrated controller, level sensor or connection for external control. When replacing a pump, check the voltage, control method, monitoring signals and wiring diagram, not just the mechanical dimensions.
