Open, shielded and sealed versions
Deep groove ball bearings are available in many sealing configurations. The open type depends on the machine assembly’s sealing and lubrication system. A version with non-contact shields limits contaminants with low friction, while a version with contact seals retains grease more effectively and prevents contamination but may affect friction and limiting speed.
Many sealed bearings are pre-greased and do not require relubrication under the design’s normal operating conditions. When selecting a bearing, check the sealing arrangement, lubricant, temperature and speed instead of relying only on the 6000/6200/6300 product series.
Clearance and mounting conditions
Clearance classes such as C3 may be used when compensation is needed for clearance reduction caused by a tight fit or temperature differences. C3 is not a quality grade. In motors, fans or high-speed rotating assemblies, fit tolerances and operating clearance directly affect temperature and noise.
Choose the correct variant
When checking a designation, verify d × D × B, the sealing arrangement, clearance, cage material, speed and rated load. Two designations with the same dimensions but different seals or clearance may suit different operating conditions.
