Although it supports longer conveyors, it uses only about half as many components as a single-pitch chain, reducing component wear.
3. Construction of an attachment conveyor chain
An attachment conveyor chain basically consists of the following seven components:
– Link plate: This component withstands chain tension, repeated loads and possible shock. It therefore requires high static tensile strength and resistance to heavy loads and impact.
– Pin: The chain pin withstands shear and bending forces transmitted by the link plates. Together with the bushing, it carries load when the chain articulates.
– Bushing: This component bears pressure from other chain parts, especially repeated loading during sprocket engagement, and therefore requires excellent shock resistance.
– Roller: The roller withstands impact when contacting sprocket teeth during movement. It is held between the sprocket tooth and bushing and moves along the tooth surface under compressive load.
– Roller link: Two bushings are press-fitted into the inner link plates and the rollers are installed over them, allowing the rollers to rotate around the bushings during movement.
– Connecting pin and intermediate plate: The connecting pin is press-fitted to the two plates.
– Spring clip and retaining pin: The spring clip prevents the link plate from separating. The retaining pin keeps the connection secure if the spring clip is displaced by chain guides.
